APPG event: What will the New Plan for Immigration mean for Local Government?

About the event: Local Government plays a vital role in implementing and responding to policies set at the national level when it comes to immigration – from supporting those with No Recourse to Public Funds who become destitute, to participating in the national transfer scheme. A number of the proposals outlined in the New Plan for Immigration will have a direct impact on local authorities, including the creation of a new cohort of people with temporary grants of protection who will have No Recourse to Public Funds, and changes to the Resettlement Scheme. This event will bring together leaders in local government, service providers and Parliamentarians to discuss the particular challenges and opportunities that the new proposals may bring to local authorities when it comes to funding and delivering the proposed policy changes, as well as policies already in place.
