Caroline Nokes MP: EU citizens in Britain need the government’s continuing support

I am proud of the EU Settlement Scheme, established while I was immigration minister. We needed to develop a fast and effective way to deal with the unprecedented challenge of supporting millions of EU citizens to confirm and prove their rights to live and work in this country. Since then we have seen nearly five million grants of status since the scheme opened in 2019, a phenomenal achievement, but we have to build on this success to ensure the scheme supports people going forward.
As the deadline for the scheme fast approaches the caseworker team at the Home Office is processing thousands of applications, and they are doing a brilliant job, as they always have. But it is obvious the 30 June deadline will not…
