Although we are still in the midst of the pandemic, it is already clear that the present economic disruption and health crisis will severely test the long-term security and stability of vulnerable countries and populations. The number of displaced people — an estimated 80 million at present — is likely to increase as a result.
A truly global Britain must take an active interest in what is happening outside our neighbourhood. Where we have the means to make a difference, to provide leadership in tackling global problems and support the world’s most vulnerable people, I believe we have a duty to do so…
