“Has this government learnt nothing from what happened to Mo Farah?”

In a fascinating latest piece on the Independent, RAMP Principal Tim Farron MP draws on reflections from the shocking revelations of Sir Mo Farah and his recent visit to Calais with the APPG for Migration, writing about a different - more compassionate -approach to refugee policy going forward.

Dissecting the limits of our compassion to refugees, Tim Farron stresses our own ignorance about the many conflicts in the world that receive little media coverage, whereby it is often hard to demarcate ‘the bad guys’ who persecute innocent civilians and lead them to seek asylum somewhere else - as in the case of many Sudanese that he met in Calais.

He calls for the new PM to show leadership by better informing the public about the real reasons why people are forced to flee, and chart a new approach to immigration and asylum policy that is more compassionate.
