RAMP Call for Action on Citizenship

25 July 2019

We welcome the new Home Secretary and look forward to working with her to ensure that our immigration system not only delivers for businesses and our economy, but is also compassionate to the most vulnerable and offers the help and support many need to integrate successfully into our communities.

With EU Citizens' rights clearly high on the new Prime Minister's agenda, we commend our Citizenship Pledge developed in partnership with British Future, Bright Blue, the Social Market Foundation and others, which calls for:

- A route to British citizenship for EU Citizens after Brexit

- Reform of how immigration decisions are made at the Home Office

- Looking at options to reduce high visa fees

We also commend our cross-party amendment to the Immigration Bill, signed by Kate Green and Tim Farron, which would create a bespoke pathway to British citizenship for EU citizens.
