Reflecting on his involvement in the line-by-line scrutiny of this proposed legislation as a member of the Bill Committee, Neil Coyle claims that the Bill breaches the UN Refugee Convention, breaks maritime law by requiring vessels to ignore people in distress and criminalises those providing help at sea, among other problematic provisions.
